What body fat analyzer scale should I buy? I'm looking to buy a body fat scale, and have no idea what one to buy. I have been told Tanita is a good brand, but I truly don't know. I'm not looking to spend too much on it (~$60), and I would like one that's got a body water % analyzer too, if possible. Does anyone have any experience with them? The ones I saw in the stores were ~$50, and were Taylor, Conair WeightWatchers, and Healthometer. I want to get this scale to monitor fat percentage. I am trying to lose weight, but mostly fat. My current weight isn't really high for my height or overweight, but my fat percentage (the last time I did an evaluation at the gym) was very high (27% ish). Just seeing the scale show a lower number doesn't mean I've actually done anything good for my body, which is why I want to monitor fat loss. And I like the water function because I never drink enough water and this would keep motivating me to drink more by scaring me every morning with low numbers. :o) I am aware of how to burn fat. This question pertains to the scale so I can monitor how much fat I burn.
How accurate is a body fat scale, and why is my fat level going so low? Im a 15 y.o male. I have a tanita body fat scale. I used it last month and it said 16% BF, i used it 2 weeks ago and it said 14%. Today it said 12.7%. I haven't been dieting, i've been lifting weights a little and my weight hasn't changed at all. Did i actually get that much more fit, or is it a fluke? how can i keep my data consistent?
Can I trust the trend of my body fat scale? I have gained 5 pounds since January; however, my body fat has gone from a high point of 20 to a high point of 18.5 when dehydrated, and a low point of 17 to a low point of 14.5 when fully hydrated. Can I trust that my body fat has indeed gone down, even though Tanita scales aren't always 100% accurate about body fat?
Did I harm My Baby By Using a Body Fat Scale? My husband got a new scale and it's one of the fancy ones that calcualte your body fat also, by passing an electric current through your body. Well, I stepped on it to see how I'm doing as far as proper weight gain and it told me my body fat, although at this point I know it doesn't matter. Anyways, I was reading through the manual and it says that pregnant women should not use due to the current. If I only stepped on it once, what are the chances that I did harm to my baby?
my body fat estimate: I did online calculators and my body fat scale at home? but I get very different numbers. I get 14 on one website that just asked me for my weight and hip measurement, and 16 on another one that asked me for weight, hip, waist, wrist, and forearm measurements. But then my home scale says that my BF% is 20.5%, why the big difference and which method is more accurate of the ones I did? Yes I did take the measurements properly. Thanks in advance.
Is my Taylor Body Fat Scale inaccurate? I just bought a new Taylor Body fat scale because I read how accurate they are. I have used the scale to measure my body fat a number of times over the last several days. The scale is very inconsistant. Alot of the time it says my body fat is 13% but sometimes it will jump up to 18%. I have also gotten every number in between 13% and 18%. Whats up with the scale? Am I doing something wrong to make the reading be so inconsistant? Should I just return the stupid thing?
On and electronic scale, what body fat percentage is optimal? I am familar with BMI however, the electronic scale I purchased gives readings based on body fat percentage. It says that I'm around 35% and that it falls into te upper end of the optimal range (by looking at the bars). However, the scale didn't come with a chart. I'd like to know what kind of body fat percentage goal I should be aiming for; I'm 5'6 female 24 years old.
Is a body fat scale accurate? I bought a 50$ body fat scale and it showed me 13% but the computer says 11- 11.5 i checked about 10 sites. Im wondering which is more accurate and if there is a good site for body fat measuring please let me know. thanks
body fat measurement: calipers vs. body fat scale? i am starting a personal training business at home and i was wondering which tool would get me a more accurate body fat read out. calipers or a body fat scale? i use a tanita scale with printer at the gym but i looked them up online and they cost too much. i am around a 150$ budget. *only answer if you have ahd experience with both :)
According to my body fat scale, mine is going up.....why?? 23yr old male here..... I baught a new scale with a body fat analyizer in it 2 months ago when I started to work out. My first reading said that I weighed 236lbs and 30% body fat (so I was very overweight) Since then I have hit the gym 4-5x a week for 30-40 minutes of cardio and a good weight lifting workout. My strength gains have been significant and my body is looking better and am down 2 inches in my pants waist( i still have a bit to go) Last ngiht I did my bi-weekly weigh in and my weight was 213lbs, but my body fat registered at 31.7%!! I am totally confused, is my scale wrong or did I really incread e my body fat, i dont see how that is possible... My diet is improved as well... 23yr old male here
body fat scale? what's the best body fat scale measurer out there ? i know they are not accurate compared to calipers etc, i just need one that gets pretty close.. thanks
Body fat scale problem? So I have a body fat scale and one thing it says is that I have 53.6% TBW (Total Body Weight?) It isn't fat so what is it? What exactly does that mean? Thank you! That is'nt my body fat. obviously. They gave me my body fat percentage AND 53.6% TBW in addition.
How accurate are body fat scales? I have lost 21 pounds (started at 168lbs) and weight train 3 to 6 days per week. The problem is my scale says 34 % body fat. The same percentage as when i started. Whats up with that ....everyone says the body fat scales are so accurate?????
How can the weight scale calculate the body fat % and hydration? you know like that one http://www.martinrothonline.com/personalhealthmonitor/images/Tanita%20body%20fat%20scale.jpg the one we have @ home give u ur weight, body fat %, BMI, and hydration its easy to get the weight of course, BUT how can they calculate the body fat % and hydration???? how can that scale know the body fat % from muscles???
regular scale / body fat monitor? I was just wondering what the differences were between a regular bathroom scale and a "body fat monitor" and is it worth the price difference?
losing body fat is their a scale of some sorts? I was wondering if their was a way to predict body fat loss. Lets say I was at 18 percent 160lb, 24 yo, 5 foot 10 male naturally skinny to muscular frame. Does anybody know how much body fat one could lose in 1 month or 2 months or 3 months and so on if the diet was in check and cardio 3 times a week and weight training 4 times a week. Thanks for your time
my body fat scale tells me a high of 22 percent and a low of 17 percent body fat its really confusing? i dont possibly think it can change that much can it i weigh 175 lbs im 5 foot 8 male and i dont look fat plus i weight train alot but my question is are they accurate because im pretty strongand i dont think im possibly 22 percent, oh yea what do you have to keep constant before jumping on one of them empty stomach is one thing but what else, should you not exercise before taking it, should you be well hydrated its confusing
Does the price in Body Fat scales matter? Some are 10-20 pound more expensive than others, but for what reason? I thought it was basically the scales send some sort of a current through your body to measure the fat. Does more expensive mean more accurate or is it just the brand name?
Body fat % on a scale flucuates? I have a scale that measures body fate and water percentage. In the morning my water is always around 38% and fat percent is around 45% ( Yes I am over weight, but I am loosing it with proper diet and exercise.) anway I will weigh my self at night and my water goes up to around 41% and body fat goes down to around 41-42%. My body weight fluctuates 1-2 lbs also but i know that is ok. Which do you think is more accurate? I think the one at night might be more accurate only because we tend to be dehydrated in the morning. I would love to see your thoughts. Thanks!
How do weight scales with body fat percentage calculation work? Hello, I am in a competetion where the total of weight percentage loss and fat percentage loss determines the winner. Besides diet and exercise, is there anything specific I can do on the final days of the competetion to squeeze out an extra 0.5% in body fat percentage by tricking the scale? For example, if I drink a gallon of water before the weigh-in that will add pounds but could it decrease body fat percentage? The scale for body fat % is measured in increments by 0.5%, so just a slight variation can cause it to go from 10.0 to 9.5% for example. That small of a difference can be huge on the final tally.
How accurate are body fat % scales? I usually check my body fat % a couple times a week and it's pretty consistent, I was just wondering how accurate the readings are. Is it off by 1-2 numbers or way off? I ask because my fat % is a little low for a woman, but i do cardio, pull ups, push ups, & crunches 6-7 times a week. my number usually says 13-14 %
How do body fat analysis scales calculate body fat % for women? I've just bought some body fat analyser scales (Salter ones). When I weigh me and my boyfriend his body fat is 15% and mine is 26%. If I set myself as male it drops to 16%. if I set my boyfriend's setting to female, his rises to 25%. If I get the measurement done at the gym with calipers, he is 15%, i am 16%. Why the disparity between male/female settings on the scales? What is right?
What is the best way to monitor body fat? Do those body fat scales for your home really work? Are they accurate? Are they the best way to keep a record of fat loss? I have been doing regular exercise and eating a healthy diet and it is hard for me to keep track of my progress. My weight has gone up slightly but I assume that is muscle weight. How can I keep track?
At what weight and/or body fat percentage can I expect to see a somewhat flat stomach? I'm a 25 y/o male who has gone from 430lbs to a current weight of 235lbs. I bought a body fat calculating scale and it claims that I'm currently at 19% body fat. So is there any window that I could reasonably expect to achieve a semi-flat stomach? If needed, I'm currently running 8 miles a day, and lifting weights at the local gym every day to every other day.
Do I really have 22% body fat, or is my scale wrong? I am about 6 feet tall and i weigh about 147. My "body fat" that uses "electric impulse technology" to measure your body fat is saying that I have 22% body fat. I saw somewhere that 22% body fat means you are obese, and I'm basically skinny, I might have a little fat like lovehandles and i dont really have that much muscle mass, but this just doesn't sound right.
how accurate are those scales with body fat readers? thinking of getting 1 to monitor by exercise regimen. i'm pretty sure the scale would be accurate, but how about the body fat readers on those scales that sends electrical signals thru your feet. i actually dont see how accurate that would be so decided to ask. alternatively, is there a better tool to measure body fat? thx.
According to the scale my body fat is %13. ? My height is 165 cm, my weight is 55 kilo. I heard that for a woman %13 body fat is low. But i still have fat on my hips, butts. I want my lower body cellulite free, firm and smaller without my body fat going dangerously low. What would you suggest? Thanks
Exactly how accurate are body-fat measuring scales? I recently bought myself one of those body-fat measuring scales, stepped on it and it showed me a reading of about 6-8% body fat. I am 17 years old, male, 5'10, 136 pounds just for the record. I am wondering how accurate is that reading?
How to increase your body fat percentage? I am f, 19y/o, 5'9" and weigh around 107-109 lbs. i just used a body fat percentage scale yesterday and it indicated my body fat percentage is 4%... I dont think this is normal for a female... since i don't excersise at all - so how do i increase this???
Are scales with body fat percentage worth the extra money? I've recently started a new fitness regimen, and I want a good digital scale to track my weight. I've seen some that also claim to be able to accurately measure BFP. I'm wondering if anybody has any experience with these scales, and can tell me if the BFP reported is accurate and precise enough to warrant the extra money. If it's just a gimmick then I'll just get a good scale and have my gym do a caliper test every so often. Thanks.
What is up with my digital scale with body fat analyzer? For about the last two weeks, when I step on it the first time, it weighs me really low. Then I step off, it weighs me really high. What's going on? I'm not adding or removing clothes, or eating/drinking or showering or going to the bathroom. Its like a ten pound difference. My sister has the same scale so I've been using her scale. My weight has gone up according to hers by about 4 pounds, but my clothes are looser, I look trimmer and my body fat percentage has gone down. What is going on?
Question about scales that measure percent body fat? I just bought a new electronic scale that measures weight and percent body fat. The problem is that I get different readings whenever I use it. It's told me that my percent body fat is as high as 29% and as low as 14%. Is there a secret to using these for a consistent result?
I am having trouble with my Taylor Body Fat Analyzer scale? It was working just fine and then - all of the sudden, from one day to the next, it started reading "Err2" the overload warning. It isn't possible for it have have gotten overloaded, as no one in my house weighs over even 200lbs. and I haven't been using it for anything else. No matter what I do it still reads that message. It won't take weight at all! I tried taking out the battery to reset it, is there another way? The Taylor customer support is already closed and won't open till Mon. I would really like this figured out before then. Any help would be great.
How accurate are BIA body fat scales? About a month and a half ago I got caliper tested for bf% at a health club and they told me I was 18%. I've exercised for at least an hour every day since then and I've been on a low calorie diet. I haven't lost a single pound, but I do look thinner (I can see my top two ab muscles now). Today I bought a body fat scale, mesured myself three times today at different times of the day and each time it was around 8 to 9% body fat. I heard that anyone under 10% would have six pack abs but as I said I can only see my top two. Also, 10% seems like a lot to loose in a month and a half (though I don't know a whole lot about fitness). Anyone know roughly how accurate these things are? Also, can piercings effect the accuracy of body fat scales? I have three (piercings). I need to know because I'm supposed to be under 10% before I start my muscle building diet.
body fat % reading on the scale? please help!? does the body fat percentage reading on the scale go up when a girl is on her menses? my period is due in a few days, and my body fat % has shot up by 2%! the last time i checked was a week ago, and i've been lifting weights last week too...so it really got me worried when i weighed myself today! is it true that water retention makes ur body fat reading higher?
How fast should I be losing body fat? I bought a new treadmill and have been running 6 days a week. I also have a scale that measures body fat. What is a realistic (healthy) amount of body fat loss per week or per month?
body fat?? how can i find my body fat ratio? are those scales accurate?... if so anyone know a good one? =) thanks<3 aliSon
body fat %? Does anyone know the accuracy of Omron Body Logic Hand Held Body Fat Monitors ? I have been using a scale that told me my BF%, and today my trainer used one that uses the same technology, except it is handheld. Well, interestingly enough, the scale has been saying I am 27% body fat ( even though I am 125 and run and work out 4 days a week), but today, the handheld said I was 17.5%!!! To my shock--obviously! my only question is--How accurate is it? Any input would help. Thanks! I had not just taken a shower...It was at 10:00 am, had done nothing to wet my hands or exercised yet..hmmm.
Digital body fat scales? UM how are they suposed to tell you're body fat by you're age and height. It dosn't give you a choice to ask weather you are small boned, muscly, big boobs, large head lol? So how does it tell?
Body Fat %? I am a 16 year old male and am just curious as to where my body fat % ranks. I don't think that I am overweight or anything it's just that we got a new scale at home the measures weight and body fat. I am 162 lb and 13% body fat. Is this too much or not? Be honest - i think it is. What would a good % be? Thanks for the time and help!
Body Fat % - Scales or Calipers? I heard that calipers are much more accurate, but is the margin of error significant-- even amongst the higher end scales? I'm not overly intense about the measurements, I'm just a very goal-oriented person and it keeps me motivated. I know if I'm not trained to use calipers I shouldn't, I'm just trying to see if technology has finally caught up in the scale department so that I could potentially buy one? Any recommendations on what scale to buy? (Or types of calipers?)
I work out 4-5 days a week, how come I have a BMI 27 and body fat 30%? I know that the at-home body fat scales are not accurate and are suposed to be used to see how much you gain and lose.. well I gained, i twas 26 to begin with, and now it is 30% body fat. I am 5'4 and weigh 160 pounds but am size 10. I'm so confused, I work out 150 minutes a week (2 to 3 hours) yet I continue to gain fat. how is this even possible? Also I have a pretty good understanding of nutrition, fitness, weight loss and gain.... i eat pretty normally except for an excess of chocolate, how could that cause me to have so much body fat if I work off all the calories all the time? "An excess of chocolate," means that I eat chocolate every day, but I never eat candy bars or anything, its not like I have more than a serving or two of chocolate in any form... its usually random peices of chocolate, never a candy bar. or it is frozen yogurt which contains chocolate.
Body fat analysis scales? Hi all, I have just bought a new set of bathroom scales, they show you your body fat %, water % and muscle %. My stats are 162cm, 65.8cm, bodyfat 26.6%, water 50.4% and muscle 31.4%. Problem is, I dont know what is good and whats not! Can anyone help?? Sorry thats meant to be 65.8KG
Body Fat Calculating Scale? I got one of those body fat scales by Tanita. It does that electrical thing to tell you your percentage of body fat. My q is, do you use it at night or morning? I got it several years ago and lost the pamphlet already
How do innerscan scales (that measure body fat %, etc.) work? I am looking into buying a Tanita innerscan scale. Can anyone tell me how it can supposedly measure one's body fat %, body water %, muscle mass etc? And can you tell me if you know, how accurate that you think they are? http://www.tanita.com/InnerscanScales.shtml
Bioelectric impedence body fat scale? I got one of those bathroom scales that measures your body fat % with electric impedence, I'm sure you've seen them before.... Anyone know how accurate those really are? And if they're affected by any fats in your digestive tract? Like, if I just ate dinner, is it going to read any fat in the beef in my stomach too? :) Or does that not affect the impedence? My body fat went up 1% from yesterday tonight, but I had just eat a burger..... eaten a burger. And no cracks about whats the point of eating burgers if you're watching your weight, sometimes fast food is all you can get, you cant always eat rabbit food :P
Minimum body fat for females? I've had 2 different body fat monitor scales in the past few years, but I think the readings must be off - what's the minimum body fat for a female in early 20s? Both of my scales were giving me readings around the 5%-8% area (5% at night, 7% and change in the am) . . . has anyone else compared Tanita body fat monitors with something more accurate like water displacement or a bodpod?
my body fat % varies on different scales? i bought three different scales that measures body fat and though they all got my weight and water % down the same, my body fat % varies greatly. one scale measure 20%, another measured 60% and the last one measured 30%. how accurate are these scales? which scale would you recommend?
I want to reduce body fat, but am vegetarian? I have a good BMI (173 lbs 5 feet 11), but have 20-25 percent body fat depending on scale I use to measure it. What can I do regarding diet? Vegetarians with low body fat -- please advice on what foods you eat. I want to tackle my fatty diet before I start doing intense cardio. If diet changes don't work, I will add the intensr cardio. Right now, I just try to walk half hour a day -- but my vegetarian diet is full or pasta, bread, pizza, burritos etc... I don't like salad:-( I AM NOT FAT! I specifically gave my height and weight and said I am good there. I have too much body fat -- but not too much weight! I am male and 28 yrs old. I have always been vegetarian and this is not a fad.
