Anyone have a diet for burning body fat? I work out 3-4 times per week(generally Mon,Tue,Wed, Sat or Sun). My workouts are Chest-bi's, shoulders/legs, and tricept/back, and 4th day is usually whole body. I scheudel is wake up 7:30am, get to work by 9(thats generally when i eat breakfast), and sleep around 12am. From what i researched, i need to eat around 5 times a day? Is this reading on body fat accurate? About 2 months ago I got body fat % check and the reading was 15.1% now it's 17.1 %.A 2% increase?!?!WTF. How can i lower my body fat? I had a health check thing at uni today (voluntary!) and they measured body fat, bmi etc. I'm 18, my BMI is 21.5 but my body fat is 35.1% (the healthy range is 20-35%). They used the hand held electronic device. I work out a lot (5 times per week on average, about 1 hour each time) and I'm generally active; I'm probably walking 2-3 hours each day aside from 'working out' as such. I'm not 'fat' looking; I have a 26" waist so why is my body fat so high and how can I get it lower? I eat healthily; the majority of my diet is fruit and veg and I don't eat particularly badly, perhaps the odd chocolate bar here and there, but who doesn't?! I'm panicking a bit now; I thought I'd be well within the healthy range!...why did I have such a bad result?

Can i gain muscle and still lose body fat? So i began working out about 3 months ago to improve my body . Im 5'11 and 160 lbs last time i checked i was about 9.2% bodyfat (Before i started working out) . I have been taking protein shakes and i just started taking creatine yesterday. My cycle at the gym is 3days on 1 day off so im pretty much there 5-6 days a week. Now for my problem i am trying to gain around 25 more pounds of muscle which although slow seems to be coming but i also am trying to get a six pack and well that isnt. I see very little improvement and i do abs every other day and around 7 exercises for them. So what do i do im trying to lose weight but also trying to gain. BTW my diet is terrible but idk everywhere ive read says u just need to get below 10% body fat for visible abs. Sorry for this long mess its just i always see ppl asking for more details =) forgot to mention i also do 15 mins of cardio in which i run 2 miles should i add to that?
Low Body Fat? I am a 17 year old boy, about 5'11 and 135 pounds. I am actually very muscular, and my body has a nice shape to it. I took weight training at school this semester, and my body fat was a low 4.9% in February. Today, we were tested again and my body fat went down even more to 4.3%, which is way below the recommended 8% for my age. Even though I have gained lots of muscle, my gym teacher told me it is very low and it should be up more, but as long as I work out I see it dropping even lower. Is this healthy or should I be getting this checked out? Is there a healthy way to get it higher?
Why would my body fat percentage drop so fast? I haven't run in years but I just started again yesterday. I'm 5'6.5" and weigh 123. Yesterday my body fat % was 25%, I ran/walked today for about 30 minutes and when I got home checked my body fat % and it was 20%. I checked it over and over. Why would this be? It hasn't been lower than 25% for the past several years and all the sudden I run for two days and it's down 5%.

Body fat Percentage, Machine Calculated Question? I use a body fat machine, you grip it and it sends the signal through the body and comes back with a random number of how much of your body is fat, yes i know they're not accurate, but I've been dunked under water multiple times, which is about 95% accurate i'd say, and it's been known to be about 2-4% off (the machine compared to the dunking). Anyway as for my question, Why does age have anything to do with how much fat is in my body? for instance, the machine tester, said i was 16% body fat, but my birthday is this thursday, so I put that I was 19 instead of 18 just to check, and It dropped me down to 13%. That doesn't make any sense , how should age affect how much fat is in the body? I know age is used to determine a healthy level of % fat in the body, but it shouldn't affect how much fat is IN the body? any ideas? Thanks
5% body fat question! help plz? Ok, last time i checked, i had about 5 or 6% body fat. I am about 5'4'' or 5'5'' and weigh about 115. My question is, is it going to be harder for me to get bigger muscles now that i have such low body fat, or should it be easier. I have been working out for a while now, but I am wondering since, for example, my arms are as big as they have ever been, but i have no fat or anything to take from to get bigger. Ways of measuring body fat besides a BMI? I'm not particularly worried about my weight, but my BMI puts me at a 24.1, just .9 away from "overweight/obese" (which is ridiculous, considering I wear a size 5) I think it may be muscle weight driving that number up, so I'd like to check my body fat and see if it is within a healthy level. I'm currently sans health insurance, so going to the doctors to have it checked is, unfortunately, not an option. Getting body fat checked at Curves while pregnant? I belong to Curves (the gym, if you're not familiar with it). I just found out that I am pregnant two days ago, HOORAY!! This was our second month of trying and I'm pretty excited! I went to the gym and was weighed and measured before the workout. Part of the weight/measurement check is a body-fat test, which I did without a second thought because I do it every month. After I was finished, I saw the sign on the wall that says people who should not get their body fat checked are: -- People with pace makers -- People who are pregnant I am hesitant to tell the employees at the gym yet because of the history of miscarriage in my family; my husband and I aren't telling anyone until we are 12-14 weeks in. They know several of my friends and co-workers (we're a big family) and I don't want them to blab! So, I have a minor concern as I am about 2-3 weeks pregnant... why shouldn't I have gotten that checked and what could it have done (if anything)?

Body Fat and Body Weight? I have been running pretty regularly for the past 1 yr.. but the thing is my weight doesn't seem to reduce much. I run everyday for 45 minutes (I started at 20 and gradually got up to 45) at an elliptical machine. I am 6'8" (203 cm) tall male (yes I am very tall) and I weigh 275 lbs (124.75kg) . I checked my body fat at a machine where you touch your elbow to a sensor and it tells you your body fat and it says I have 18% body fat. Now, so why didn't I lose any weight? I am pushing myself very hard to make the 45 minutes, I don't think I can go any more higher these days. Also I put the machine at max level I can do it: level 16 out of 25. So, am I OK ? I mean I feel fine and I have a small gut, which I think is going down.

If BMI is such a flawed system, then why are obesity statistics based on it?.? They say 60% of Americans are obese, yet this is according to BMI. A BMI of over 25 is classified as overweight and a BMI of over 30 is obese. Yet I know plenty of people with BMI's over 25 and 30 who have healthy levels of body fat. I do realise on the other hand, there may be people with a healthy BMI, yet still be carrying to much body fat and this may balance figures out somewhat, but I get the feeling that the 60% figure may well be somewhat exaggerated. I'd like to see doctors start checking patients body fat percentages and see how this affects the obesity statistics. It would be interesting to know whether the number would stay the same or go up or down. Yes, I've heard waist measurement and waist/hip ratio is a much better predictor of obesity than BMI. Whats the cheapest and easyest way to check your BMI or fat%? Ive tried to check my BMI because im starting to work out, I was told to forget the scale by a doctor, and go off of BMI. Im 5'9'' 211 lbs but everyone is totally shocked when they look at me and i tell them that, mostly because i can still fit into Junior sizes... I feel fat? I'm 13 and 100 pounds. All my life I've been skinny and I still am, but ever since I started dancing more my muscles have developed a ton. I'm 5'2. Last I checked I had around 30% body fat (down from 35%!) I'm not concerned about my weight per se, just want to lose the fat around my mid section. Trying to figure out what my calories should be like, and what percentage of protein, carbs and fats I should have, as well as when to work and how much. Sounds like a full on plan? Any ideas? Explain this to me (bmi, body fat %)? Alright, my bmi is like 18.2, but then I do my body fat % and it comes out as borderline obese. I am not doing anything wrong.. I checked it a few times. The only thing I can blame is the calculator..what calculators do you use. Also, if needed, I'm 5'4 and 110 pounds (which I am trying desperatley to lose)
I have two questions...? I'm 14 years old, I'm 66 inches tall, medium-framed, very muscular, and I weigh 113 pounds. The thing is, I went to check my body fat, and it's at only 10.2 percent. I am very active and fit, so is that ok? Also, I exercise for 1 to 3 hours a day, I only eat lean meats, most of my meals consist of fruits and veggies, and I eat multi-grain bread and rice. My biggest meal is breakfast, I have around 120 cals at lunch, and I eat less than 100 cals at dinner. I counted how many calories I burnt one day and I dicovered that I was only eating 10% of the calories I was burning! It really freaked me out. I'm a health freak, though. So it's really hard for me to like the taste of more fatty things. Could you help me out, please? Some recipies would be awesome. I love Chicken and Tuna.
Body fat percentage!? I used this calculator and it said 32% fat! Is it accurate? I am 97 pounds and 5'3 Measurements: Waist: 27 ( I think, I havn't checked recently) Wrist: 6 Hip: 35 Forearm: 8.5 I am happy with my weight, but it just said 'body fat percentage'
Weird body fat improvement?? I have just started working out and i have noticed that my body fat had dropped dramatically, with not really alot of cardio work. I am 24 and 165 lbs or 75kg. I started 2 months ago and went to a pharmacy where they have body fat machines where u can find out your B.M.I and body fat etc. My first try i was 21.4%, after a months workout i checked again and i was 16.9%. So i kept going and a month later (yesterday) i checked againa and i am now 13.8%. Does this seem to fast to lose body fat?? my weight has stayed the same. My workout consists of a 10 minute fast run before my workout 4 days a week. then a different muscle group every workout day. i.e back and triceps. I have also completly changed my diet replacing beer with vodka and diet coke. Healthy meals low fat butter and crisps and chocolate bars. Fizzy juice has been completely cut out except diet coke. I take creatine tablets b4 every workout also. The bf loss seems too easy and im worried that it may be unhealthy?
When they take blood for Mono, do they check for drugs? My doctor took blood to test for mono, do they check for drug use? Also, if they find out i did smoke, can they tell my parents without breaking confidentiality? And I smoked Saturday and theyre testing on a sunday, it was my first time. Im very skinny, only 4% body fat.
Body Fat %? Is it more accurate to check in the morning or evening because mine is 13% in the evening and 16% in the morning.

Am i gaining muscle and so not losing weight? I started working out about 8 weeks back. I was 80 kilos at that time with 35% body fat. After five weeks of alternate day weights and cardio, i dropped to 77 kilos with 31% body fat. Since then i am working out about like below: a) 10 minutes of warm up and stretching b) 30 minutes of weight lifting (moderate to intense) about 10 to 12 sets each day one body part c) 20 minutes of cardio d) 20 minutes of calesthenics - abs, yoga, crunches, etc.. Diet is fairly under control with about a 800 to 1000 calorie deficit per day. Its been over a week and the weighing scales are still showing 77 kilos although i had to pull my belt by one inch more and i am feeling thinner in general. Is it because the muscle gain is offsetting fat loss? i just cant wait for three more weeks before checking my body fat and taking measurements again! any thoughts?
My Body fat? Why is the top of my stomache always hard and swollen more than the bottom of it like theres a huge knot in it or something...its way bigger then the bottom half I dont know why...should i have it checked? I can fast for a few days and it goes down but its like as soon as i eat it blows back up...
Knowledgeable People Only! Is it possible for me to healthily go from 15.5% body fat to 5 by april? i know it seems like too much but i chose a high goal cause i wanted to aim high, plus i exercise currently 6 days a week, 20min cardio then weights plus a 2000 calorie diet with atleast 150g protien, casein at night, rest week every 5. And if it isn't possible, how long do you think it would take? i had my workout checked with a sports nutritionist so im pretty sure its healthy though i didn't ask about time. i weigh 162 at 5 10.5 if that helps

Am I Fat??? I just turned 14 years old(girl) and i have gained some belly weight. I used to have pretty solid tummy muscle. Now a layer of fat has grown over it and i'm starting to get signs of love handles. Also when i wear my favorite jeans, i have a small muffin top. I was 5'5 and 117 before, but when i went to the doctor i was 5'6 and weighed 129. I don't think my diet has changed much, but it wasn't strict i just eat when i want. Also my parents have a body fat measurer and i check myself every so often: When i weighed 117 my body fat was 12 percent and my BMI was 19.5 now my body fat is 17 percent and my BMI is 20.9. lower tummy fat?!? ok so i am turning 14 in two days..and I weigh about 111 last time i checked I'm 25% body fat. so im looking to lose some off of my lower stromach..everything else on my body is fine. i'm a former competitive gymnast so my stomach is real strong as well as my legs and arms..but now i still do gymnastics but not the long hours. heres the excercize i get- mon- ballet and jazz 5:30-8 tues- gymnastics 7-9 thurs- hip hop 8-9 and i usually do short ab workouts at night.. i have no problem running- but its winter and i don't belong to a gym. i'm wondering what i can do to lose a little off my stomach...like how many calories i should have a day...because i eat quite a bit of meat and love milk. help please?

If my goal is to lose fat and gain muscle size/strength how should i tailor my diet? My BMR is 2279.9 calories based on my height of 6'1"5 and weight of 235. Crunches, pushups..no cardio? I'm 15, 5'8 and weigh 130. I'm wondering if it is possible to get at least a flat stomach(hoping for a 6 pack) without doing any type of cardio. I hurt my leg a year or so ago playin soccer and now it is quite painful to run as well as riding a bike. Swimming is also not possible as there are none close by. Also, is it possible to check my % body fat without going to the doctor? I am skinny, but I have a little fat on my stomach...can I get rid of this without cardio? Is there a specific type of fat that collects in your stomach area or is that just normal for guys?
5th grade science project question...RE: body mass/endurance? Hypothesis: Body fat percentage affects endurance. My son and I plan on testing 19-26 year old males (or get data my trainer already has in his files for his clients). Someone walking into the gym for their first training session EVER who has 19% body fat compared to people who come in with 36% body fat (and a few percentages in between) using their standard treadmill endurance test. Do their "numbers" always reflect better endurance as body fat is a smaller percentage? I just checked my BMI, and Im 0.9 points from being overweight. How is that possible? I just had my body fat checked and Im 4.7%, my doctor said I need to gain more weight. Im a runner, so I burn alot of calories each week.
Am I fat? Am I skinny? I have noticed many people asking this question, and others have responded "Check your BMI". The thing that people don't understand is that the BMI does not take your body fat % into account, so someone could be considered "severly overweight" using the BMI, yet they have a healthy body fat % of 12%. Also a person could be well within the "healthy" range of the BMI, but have a body fat % of 30%, which is in reality is considered overweight. This is why I have modified it to use in combination of the BMI and the body fat %. To get your body fat %, there are several ways, but the most cheapest, and most accurast way, would be to get a professional to measure your body fat % using a set of calipers. Your BMI is within or greater than the "healthy range" Your body fat % is less than 25% i.e BMI = 18.0 (this would be considered underweight!) Body Fat % = 30% Overweight! i.e. BMI = 26 (this would be considered very obese!) Body fat % = 15% Normal!
Boxing weight class i go for? hi everyone, just wanted to ask some advice, well here goes, i am 23yrs old, im 5ft 9 tall and i used to box at the 18yrs old at 73.5kg, i always felt really skinny but had good fights and some really good wins, but anyway i had some time off and my weight blew up to over 16. 7 stone, so in june i started training and now i weight 12 stone 7pounds, i had my body fat checked and found out that my lean mass was only just over 10 stone, now the thing is i dont want really want to box again in that low weight. ive bin told that i should build some muscle (around 10pounds) and then try and lose some body fat but im unsure what sort of weight i could make. i would like to gain some mass and fit into my old weight or just a bit lower but this time round be a bigger and stronger boxer at the weight, does anyone think that would be a good plan? any advice on this because i havent got a clue what to do lol thanks
