my body fat % is 27...how much sshould it be?
OH, AND I DO NOT MEAN BODY MASS INDEX...THAT'S A WHOLE DIFFERENT THING. I'm 5' 7, female, 164 pounds and 24 years old It was 32 4 months ago so thanks to a healthier lifestyle and exercise, it has dropped 5%. How much should it be to be considered healthy? It can;t be healthy now as I have a huge stomach which I need to lose a considerable amount of fat from *sigh* there's always one, isn't there?

- More like 20 ish.
- between 15-21%
- woman should be around 20% i think.
- the body fat mass isn't correct if you only calculate your weight and height. cos you might be heavy because of your bone and muscle, not always the fat... for example-- body builders. if you calculate their hight and weight, their body fat mass will be very hight, but really their not. if you would like to know your real body fat mass, better check it with your doc.
- Your okay, unfortunately it's harder for women to keep the weight off but you are on the right track.
- 27% is perfectly healthy and around average body fat for a female....also considering the fact that you are technically 'overweight' according to BMI standards, I'd say it's pretty damn good and indicates you have a decent amount of lean (muscle) mass. Body Fat Percentage (Females): Essential Fat: 10%-12% Athletes/Body Builders: 14%-18% Fit/Lean: 20%-24% Average: 26%-28% Overfat: 30%-32% Obese: 34% plus
