Olypic athlete body fat-8% for men, what is womens?
Also, how do they calculate that? Because the standard bmi really doesn't apply to athletes as they have a lot of muscle that adds a lot of weight to their height. So supposedly 8% is the body fat percentage for men olympic athletes, so how do they calculate that and what is a woman's?

- I read somewhere between 9% and 12% but I don't remember where
- You dont have to have a certain BMI to get into the olympics. I have heard this so many times and its stupid. How do I know? My father has been on the US olympic sailing team for years, and has sailed in 2 olympics, and he had said his BMI at the time(take in mind hes a sailor and drinks like one too) was just under 20%. It just depends on what sport you are talking about. I know of a woman who tried out for swimming that weighed 220lbs. and was rather chunky but had so much muscle it wasnt in issue. I dont really understand that question but I know this for a fact.
- This really depends on the sport. Distance runners would be very low and throwers would be higher. Other sports may have the same percentage as the average person rather than have an athletic body. For instance I doubt that people in sailing have low body fat.
- 8% body fat for men is about the equivilent of 14%-16% body fat for women.
