How does a scale calculate your body fat? Is this a scam?

- I wouldn't say it is a scam but I wouldn't count on that scale being able to tell you what your exact body fat is those scale are always off some by 10% thats a lot when your dealing with body fat.
- There are two kinds. One makes you enter your height, and then it calculates based on your weight... which isn't very accurate. The other kind checks the electrical resistance of your body and it is fairly accurate.
- i have a scale that does that and then when my doctor did it at his office it was 12% wrong. so it's not a scam. but it doesnt always work.
- The scales that measure your body fat is merely an estimation. I have one that measures my body fat. I hate to put in my age, height and that I am a female. When it weighs me it takes all that information into account and makes an estimation. I have found that it is typically 3-5% higher than what a body fat calculator on the net calculates me to be at.
