How accurate are BIA body fat scales?
About a month and a half ago I got caliper tested for bf% at a health club and they told me I was 18%. I've exercised for at least an hour every day since then and I've been on a low calorie diet. I haven't lost a single pound, but I do look thinner (I can see my top two ab muscles now). Today I bought a body fat scale, mesured myself three times today at different times of the day and each time it was around 8 to 9% body fat. I heard that anyone under 10% would have six pack abs but as I said I can only see my top two. Also, 10% seems like a lot to loose in a month and a half (though I don't know a whole lot about fitness). Anyone know roughly how accurate these things are? Also, can piercings effect the accuracy of body fat scales? I have three (piercings). I need to know because I'm supposed to be under 10% before I start my muscle building diet.

- I don't really like those body fat tests. I'm in the military and according to our standards, guys are only allowed to have 18% body fat depending on your height and weight. I've seen some guys who have only 5% body fat and don't have the 'six pack.' On the other hand, there are a few other BF tests that say if you want 'six pack' abs, then you need to be at 2% BF. It just depends on what reference you're using or who is telling you. Of course, not everyone is the same. It may be due to genetics. If you really want your 'six pack' abs, work on them more. Especially your lower abdomen area as well as your obliques. Good luck.
- First off no do not do the stupid detox all it does is get rid of your water weight and its harmful second off from what i hear yes the body fat scales are pretty accurate they say the best time to get the most accurate weight and body fat is right when you wake up. Now the scale is right on the dot accurate but from what i hear it is accurate if you set it right.
