How acurate are body fat calculating scales?

1. Not too much. Even under ideal conditions, it might vary 8% depending on manufacturer, especialy ones targeted for home users. The problem is that the way they calculate body fat depends from lots of factors, including amount of water person drank recently, physical activity, temperature, etc... All of it alters resistance of your body, and makes the calculations not too reliable.
