body fat measurement: calipers vs. body fat scale?

i am starting a personal training business at home and i was wondering which tool would get me a more accurate body fat read out. calipers or a body fat scale? i use a tanita scale with printer at the gym but i looked them up online and they cost too much. i am around a 150$ budget. *only answer if you have ahd experience with both :)

  1. Calipers are "accurate" to a point, but if you can afford id id definitely go for the body fat scale. To prove this try relaxing your arm or somewhere else on your body that you KNOW is muscle, and see if you can grab it and move it around. Same thing with the calipers, they are easy to misuse and you can get incorrect results.
  2. Calipers.
  3. Calipers are MUCH more accurate than bodyfat scales. Body fat scales tend to be way off. I have both and my scale readings are way off. I am in good shape and I get readings like 35% on the scale. It seems to be effects a lot by weight rather than body fat. Definitly go with calipers. Just make sure you are accustomed to using them
  4. Definitely callipers over a body fat scale. It's cheaper and far more accurate IMO.
