What percentage does your body fat have to be at in order for abdominal muscles to show?

According to various sources abdominal muscles don't show on most people as we are too fat. What is the body fat percentage that will allow us to show them off? Without disclosing too many personnel details, I'm not exactly beating away Father Time with a stick at the moment. Could you give some examples of some relatively basic cardio vascular excercises that require little preperation or equipment, something other than plain running that is.

  1. about 13% it starts at try for about 10% though
  2. My body fat percentage is 15% and I have a six pack, BUT that's because I work out, I don't think if you get your body fat down to a low Level well mean you will have abs, you will just look emancipated.
  3. It is dependent on genetics, mostly. In general, under 10% in men and under maybe 14% in women will make the abdominal muscles visible.
  4. I think abhard meant emaciated
  5. It would partially depend on your age, as older folks have a tendency to gather fat around the mid section. I have an extremely low body fat percentage, but what I do have is right there in the Budweiser section, dangit. I can tell you how to lose it, cardio. Speed up, slow down exercises will jump start your metabolism and get you to burning fat calories. You can pump iron and do crunches all you want, but if you aren't doing cardio, you won't show much improvement in this area. Walking. Simply walking is the absolutely best low impact exercise you can do. An example of "speed up, slow down".... walk at a normal rate. You see the mailbox up ahead? Walk fast to the mailbox. Slow back down. Walk a bit. See the fire hydrant? Walk fast to the fire hydrant, slow back down. The more you walk in this manner, you will quickly see marked improvement. I guarantee it. There are things you can do with your diet, as well, but walking has got to be centerpiece of your routine. Good luck, but you won't need it if you follow my advice.
