body fat scale reviews

Im a little confused with this whole bmi and body fat percentage help plz?

ok so i did a test to see what my body fat percentage was. I did several of them to get an accurate total and it came out to be 17 percent. 17 i think is rather healthy if you ask me. Now i go onto this bmi thing and i enter my height and weight which is 5 ft 11 and 215 lbs and the thing says im overweight by 36 lbs. How can i be overweight by so much and have a healthy body fat percentage makes no sense. Is this bmi thing inaccurate or should i go redo my body fat test again. I calculated my body fat at the high school they do for free. they do like some thing where they clip something on your leg. idk it was wierd i also did an online thing where you put it your waist size neck size and your height. my waist is 37 inches and my neck 19 and it came out to 17 like the hs test said. i am pretty built i think i work out 5 times a week...a bench 245 deadlift 375 and squat 305. and i do a 6 35 minute mile on the treadmil so that like a 9 minute mile i guess if i do it outside on the track. i also do about 9 chin ups too.

  1. First of all, how did you test your own body fat percentage? Unless you are super muscular and have low body fat like you say, 215 is a bit high for 5'11". How did you test yourself?
  2. BMI is not an accurate way of testing. BMI requires your weight divided by your height, the answer mus then be compared to the "norms" and it will tell you your result. the problem with BMI is that if you are short and have an athleic build, it says you are extremely obese or if you are tall and have the same build, it says you are exremely thin. BMI is a ery rough figure and should not be taken seriously. body fat % when done correctly with calapars is very accurate and this is what you should be looking at. a 17% for a female is very good.
