body fat scale reviews

Question about Body Mass?

Currently, I'm overweight, and I go regularly to a dietitian. My eventual goal I was 145 until I looked through the papers from my dietitian's office. From the machine that takes your lean/fat mass percentage, I would rather not say the weight that is made up of fat =P, but it says that my lean body mass makes up 163lbs, and my dietitian said 8%-18% is an ideal amount of body fat. Therefore, my ideal weight is 176-192lbs. But I'm 5'6, so these weight are considered overweight according to the BMI scale. It's awhile down the road, but after I have gotten off the unwanted fat weight, is there a healthy way for me to lose muscle without doing too much harm to my metabolism? Sorry for the novel. ;) Lol, really? I don't really know much about body mass percentages. I suppose the machine is just off for whatever reason. Thank you.

  1. Believe me, you don't have a 163 lbs lean body mass. A 5'6" male bodybuilder on steroids would be lucky to have that much muscle. Those scales can be way off for certain body types, skin-fold calipers are a more accurate method. Don't worry about trying to lose extra muscle (that's what burns fat right), your body will get rid of what it doesn't need to pack around the extra weight (fat) as soon as you lose it. Stick to your original goal of 145 lbs and then go from there based on how much fat you still have. You don't need special gadgets and machines to tell you your BMI, a mirror is the best tool for that .
