why is it that my body fat is?
considered normal which is 22% and my body index is obese. Im 5'4 and i weigh 176. I dont look like it though. Ive been going to the gym for more than a yr and i eat healthy food. I dropped 73 lbs already but now it seems like my weight is kinda steady and im not losing anymore. I also lift weights every 2 days and cardio 5-6 days a week. So what is going on w my body? According to my BMI i should weigh less but according to body fat index im normal.. Heres pic http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x220/risia97/me4.jpg

- you got muscles....
- Wow your beautiful...anyway try to lower your carb intake and raise your protein consumption. You look great though, BMI states Im overweight also Im 5'11 198, 8% bf lol go figure....
- Love yourself for who you are
- When you have a lot of muscle, which it looks like you do...your BMI calculations will be way off. For example, my husband is a bodybuilder and he has about 8% body fat, but he is categorized as obese in his BMI. Instead you should have your body fat tested...it is a much more accurate reading of how much weight is fat. Also, muscle weighs a lot more than fat..so keep in mind how your body LOOKS in the mirror and not all the numbers. Once again, your muscle mass is throwing off your BMI, so try not to focus on that..and congratulations!! It seems like you have made so much progress so far ! Try meeting with a personal trainer to see why you have plateaued! It is really easy to stall in weight loss and training, and you might need an extra boost! Good Luck!
- Because you have a lots of muscle with increased glycogen and water storage plus a large frame and high bone density. People like you make a total mockery out of the BMI scale, it's time they scrapped it for good. I'm 5ft2, weigh a good 50lb less than you and my body fat percentage is 24%!
