Body fat % ???

I'm a 15 year old guy and I'm hella skinny I weigh 110 lbs. and am 5'8 The thing is when I went to the gym for the first time the trainer gave me this little handheld machine and told me my Body fat % was 20%.. When I check online body fat calculator tests it said 20% is overweight or near overweight which I don't get cause I'm soo skinny . the home body fat tests said my bf % was like 10 or 11. Also by toning do you mean cardio or just working out? I have almost no muscle.

  1. That's actually weird for your height and weight. It should be somewhere around 11%
  2. U are still young yet and havent turned any fat into muscle...if u can pinch an inch, then start toning workouts.
  3. I'm 5'7 and 156 and probably about 15% bodyfat. You can't really tell your bf by online calculators and if not tested properly (or by a dumb trainer) that can be wrong too. Now this doesn't mean that your fat at all, it just means you need more muscle to even yourself up. You are skinny man, start eating.
  4. Generally men have a certain baseline percentage of bodyfat that varies with height. Now if you have no muscle that amount will be a bigger percentage of your body weight. Therefore you will have a higher body fat % than you appear to have. Just as an example if you have 10 lbs of fat that is necessary fat and you have 10 lbs of "extra fat" and you weight 120 lbs. You will probably appear very skinny and have about a 16.7% bodyfat. But someone who is the same height except weighs 175 lbs. If he has the same 10 lbs of necessary fat, and 20 lbs of extra fat he will appear much fatter than the skinny person but he will have a similar bodyfat percentage because he has more muscle. If you want to lower your body fat percentage, I recommend lifting weights and bulking up. And yes I doubt that you have 20% body fat but you could be close to that.
