healthy body fat percentage?

O.K. So in P.E. today than we were doing first of the year stuff. (height, weight etc.) and so on the body fat percentage thing i got 29% And so im wondering whats healthy body fat percentage? And whats over weight? (im 15 years old, 64", 120 lbs) k so i was thinking that the number i told my friends was right till i was lookin at sites online so i looked up a site and did a some thing to have them tell me my % and i got 119 and i feel stupid but i read the number wrong on my paper.. i mean %19

  1. Healthy for girls is 8-12% (best), 12-18 (ok) and past that is getting into chubs. Healthy for guys is 3-7% (best), 7-12% (pretty good), 12-18% (average) and past that, again, is pretty chubs and fat. 29% is pretty much fat for anybody. Borderlining clinical obesity.
  2. I only know from the source below, that for a woman aged between 20 and 39 body fat which is between 21 and 33% is considered healthy, any more than that makes you overweight. Also it seems that the older you are the greater the proportion of body fat which you are supposed to have is. BMI (body mass index) which is a way of estimating somebodies body fat is dependent on a guys height and weight. Regardless of your physical size the proportion of fat in your body which you are supposed to have, is the same unless your are 40 or over, in which case you naturally have more fat . Hence it is healthy for you to have 19% body fat.
