Are on-line Body Fat Percentage Calculators Accurate?

I was just wondering how accurate they were as, although they take into account frame size and height, they do not take into account muscle mass. TIA.

  1. nope
  2. No they are not. My aerobics teacher is pure muscle and it said she had 28% fat.
  3. For me, I think it came out slightly higher than what I really am, so I wouldn't put a lot of faith into them. Take the test and see where you stand. If you aren't built like a linebacker, assume that it is a half way decent estimate. But again, it's only an estimate. To get a realistic value, have someone do a body fat analysis either using skin calipers or using a body fat scale. I have one that I bought for around $50 and it seems to be reasonably accurate.
