how can you work out the amount of fat in your body??
i don't know what it is called when you calculate the amount of fat in you body, but does anyone know of anywhere on the internet where you can find it out??

- The easiest way to do it is to buy some scales that calculate it by running a small electrical pulse through you whilst you're standing on them. this will give you an accurate reading Something liek these ones http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/8320098.htm
- THere are two things. 1. Body Mass Index (see below) 2. A normal person is made up about 50% fat.
- use a mirror. if you appear to be fat (be honest) then you ARE fat.
- BMI is not the same as body fat. Your local gym and some GP's/ clinics can give you a body fat test. If you're very obese, hospitals might send you for underwater weighing. If you're an elite athlete, or stupidly rich, you can get a laser scan. You can also buy scales from places like Boots which will also measure your body fat percentage. But whatever you do, don't go for BMI. It is NOT an accurate measure of bodyfat. I'm getting fed up of having to tell people this on here - not your fault, but I wish more people knew!!! And Kevin, above, where the hell did he get 50% from? That would be a severely problematic ammount of body fat!!! The healthy ranges are about 12-20% for men and about 15-25% for women, although it changes with age.
- There are various calipers and electro-dermical devices that can give you BFI index, but try just striping, standing in front of a mirror and jumping up and down - the bits that keep wobbling are fat!
- work out your Body Mass Index - (height in centimetres squared divided into your weight in kilos) then go to doctors and have a calliper test, work it all out on a chart for you
