Are body fat percentage calculators accurate?

I bought a hand held body fat percentage calculator from shopko, about $15.00 and I was wondering if they were accurate? I try it every now and then and it seems to go up and down with my exercise and eating habits, but I was wondering if the number in the first place is very accurate?

Chances are that it's not that accurate.I'm not familiar with the one that you're talking about but I'll assume that it's a caliper.That's the least accurate way to determine body fat because water retention can throw it off.The best tools are a water displacement test or an electronic test using ultra sound.I don't think either of these are reasonably priced for home use.
