Body fat percentage?

I went on one of those machines at the gym and my body fat percentage is 16.5%. I weigh 65kg and I'm 5ft 5inches. I just wondered if that is normal for my height and weight. I have no psychological issues! Just health conscious!

  1. normal is 18 percent for men and 21 percent for women.
  2. a footballers boxer runner etc there percentage is around 3 so urs is through the roof,,,i run everyday and mine is 7 percent,,,,,wots ur cholesterol hun,,,
  3. You should be between 113 & 138 pounds. Meaning 51 to 62 kg.
  4. well that seems a little low but you can go to any web site put in your weight And height and it will tell you your b m i and if it is low high or okay for your weight and height, www.healtha-z .com is a good one. but as long as you feel okay than you should be fine,
  5. that's underweight!
  6. its under
  7. Your just fine. Women, in general, will have higher body fat percentage vs. men do to sex specific fat stores in the body (ie. breasts etc). A healthy range is between 15% and 18%. You know your shape and each woman will have different sex specific attributes that will effect the percentage. Your weight is a little over what your ideal body mass would be, but again, if you are now going to a gym consistently (minimum 3 aerobic workouts a week) you will get that into a more healthy range in about 3-6 months. Best of luck! Be happy with who you are now and if you aren't happy with your weight/fat% for health reasons then hit the gym, eat healthy-well balanced meals and be patient. 6 months can seem like a long time but your body has to adjust to a new routine.
  8. That does seem quite low in relation to your weight, unless you are a female body builder/athelete, as they usually have around that percentage of body fat. I don't think those machines are particularly accurate. Essential minimum body fat for females: 10%-12% Acceptable body fat percentage range for females: 12%-32% Female body builders/athletes: 12%-17% Ideal body fat percentage for females: 18%-24% Essential minimum body fat for males: 2%-5% Acceptable body fat percentage range for males: 5%-25% Male body builders/athletes: 5%-10% Ideal body fat percentage for males: 11%-17% HTH : )
  9. I think that it may have been calculated wrongly. If it is your Body Mass Index that you are after you need to multipy your weight by your height squared. Your BMI should be between 20-25.
  10. Haa - you thought my message was gone - I have returned with my non-hangover figure of 23.8 so nerner reporter.
