How much weight is two inches of waist?
I'm 5'7.25" and I have a waist of 37.75" and a body fat percentage of 17%. I want to shrink my waist down to 35.5" (2.25" less) which should get me closer to a very healthy 14% body fat percentage. Anyone have any clue how much weight that would be around? My goal is to lose 10 pounds of fat in a month. Is that too much or not enough? Hey, BAGS, you must be using some magical calculators because height and waist aren't enough to get bodyfat percentage in any of them. Not even close to accurately, anway... so as you said to me. I think it might be impossible that your numbers are correct. Why don't you try here: http://www.he.net/~zone/prothd2.html or here: http://www.linear-software.com/online.html and for those My neck is 19.5" My height is 67.25" My abdomen is 37.75"

- Weight comes off from everywhere and it will range many lbs, so you wont know how much. you just have to do it and see. good luck. dave
- I'd say 5 inches is about 30 pounds, so 6 pounds per inch. I'm 5'11" and have a normal to slim build. I find it quite unusual that someone of your height has a waist that size and only 17% body fat. I would have thought 17% body fat for someone 5'7" would have a 30" waist. I think it might be impossible. every body fat calculator on the internet says that height and waist equates to 25% body fat.
- you would have to lose 15 - 20 pounds
- I was told that a pound of fat is about the size of your fist.
- I don't know how much you would weigh at 14% body fat. It depends on how much muscle you have. I'm sure it will vary depending on height, but, I can tell you that I am female, 5' 10" and for every 10 pounds I lose, I can fit into one size smaller dress. 10 pound of fat loss in one month should certainly be doable and not "too much."
- Regardless of being a *good* answer or not, if you're a male with 17% body fat, you're already on the very fit side and trying to drop down to 14% body fat that fast would extremely stressful to your body and you would likely end up putting your body into a starvation / famine mode that only lasted so long as you starved yourself. Now, if your committed to such a change, the best I could recommend to "lean up" like that would be to increase your cardio through the roof, running/etc. should become your principle form of exercise and you'll need to bring your carbs really low - something I refuse to do - chicken and steamed broccoli will become your friend. I stand 6'0" with 19-22% bodyfat without much exercise and I'm damn skippy about it. But that's why we're all like little snowflakes... ::smiles::
- Probably about 10lb-15lb to lose 2 inches. And just to let you know 17% body fat is pretty good for a guy, although I can understand wanting to slim down on the waist slightly. Good luck : )
- This IS the question behind why there are so many diet and nutrition books, plans, etc. I had a 38" waist and weighed 207 when I hit the gym again Jan 7th, 2007 now on Feb 2nd 2007 I weigh 206 and have a 34 1/2 " waist. So what do you think. At the gym I only weight train, mostly dumbells, hitting Chest, back, shoulders, legs and do abdominal crunches in long sets (usually 5 sets of 30 reps with up to 40 pounds) and abench (R) crunches - I like large numbers of these but so far haven't hit more than 200 at a run. (going for 5000 again). So I took off 4 inches and only 1 pound, go figure.
