How do I INCREASE my body fat?

In 5 months I have gained a stone in weight, since starting an office job and eating junk food all day at my desk (crisps, chocolate, pre-packed sandwiches). I assumed I had gained fat but have now discovered that my body fat percentage is very low (15%) while my water percentage is high (60%). Apparently my fat should be at least 22% and my water should be 50%. I am 32 years old, female, 5'3" high and weigh 9st, 2lb. My ideal weight is 8st 4lb. I am physically fit but certainly not "athletic" and recently have been suffering from joint pain - a symptom of having too little body fat (my doctor has ruled out any other causes for the joint pain) - I also suffer from other symptoms of low body fat such as menstrual problems. I am working on decreasing my water levels but haven't got a clue how to increase my fat levels. Obviously eating junk food isn't the answer and I haven't found a website that tells me how to GAIN body fat. Can you help or point me to a website that can?

  1. maybe try to eat more sweet foods and less diet sodas. remember to brush teeth or chew gum after each sweet meal though. try to keep it as naturally sweet as possible. try to eat slightly more refined products like white bread or white rice or pasta. Use white sugar to sweeten things. eat regularly. look for high GI type foods, mashed potatoes etc., why sweet things? well, it may help your insulin levels rise and promote more fat depositing hormones. I don't know of a web site that gives you this advice but this is one that gives the REVERSE advice for those trying to lose fat. BTW have you asked your doctor if you may be suffering from HYPERglycemia? http://www.mercola.com/article/carbohydrates/lower_your_grains.htm
  2. Its quite a rare thing to want to increase body fat, you're lucky in a sense but not if its affecting your health. A dietition may be able to help. What if you eat alot, not junk food, just highly nutritious food with all the good fats like oily fish, potatoes, carbs, carbs make you put on weight. Nuts also contain good amounts of fat. Milk is also good. Try eating every 2-3 hours and eating a big meal before you go to bed.
