Weight training to loose fat percentage?

I found out just two weeks ago that I am 36.3% fat! I am only 13lbs over the IDEAL weight for my height and age and it is all around my hip! And it is not the hipbone! lol I have 10weeks to loose the extra lbs. I am exercising every day with 3 consecutive days of 20 minutes cardio and intensive weight training exercises for lower body, upper body and back and one day of cardio and stretches then repeat the same exercises. I have done it for two weeks but I have only lost less than half a pound! And my fat index has gone up by 0.3%! My life is pretty much sedentary as I am working from home sitting in front of my pc almost all day long. Still, I am working out everyday! My diet is very healthy and I have cut hugely on my oil consumption, which I think is responsible for the fat hanging around my hip! Now I am having second thoughts if this is the right exercise for me. Even though I don’t want to see the extra lbs on the scale, I am more worried about my fat index. Any advice? also, does weight loss mean losing only the fat or it could also include loosing important muscles as well?

  1. These are all very good questions. you are definately on the right track. opne thing to remember is that as you progress through your weight training, you will gain muscle. Muscle weighs more than fat does. If you are being taped to figure our your fat index instead of pinched( you should know what i mean) then it is not accurate at all, and you need to go somewhere else to get your numbers. Also remember that your body(male or female) may retain water which will really thow a lot of your numbers off. I would stick with it for a little while longer while at the same time reviewing your diet to ensure that it fits your needs while on thisw workout plan. Outside of seeking true professional help that is the best i can giver over an open forum
  2. If you are not losing weight then I'd look more critically at the diet. Remember however; weighing yourself isn't always the best way to measure your fat loss. Clothes are just as good a way to see how well you're doing! Like you, I sit in front of a pc at home all day (work from home) don't be discouraged with the figures - keep it up!
