Am I Fat???

I just turned 14 years old(girl) and i have gained some belly weight. I used to have pretty solid tummy muscle. Now a layer of fat has grown over it and i'm starting to get signs of love handles. Also when i wear my favorite jeans, i have a small muffin top. I was 5'5 and 117 before, but when i went to the doctor i was 5'6 and weighed 129. I don't think my diet has changed much, but it wasn't strict i just eat when i want. Also my parents have a body fat measurer and i check myself every so often: When i weighed 117 my body fat was 12 percent and my BMI was 19.5 now my body fat is 17 percent and my BMI is 20.9. I'm not really that SUPER FAT but i don't like my flabby tummy Here is a link of me http://photobucket.com/mediadetail/?media=http%3A%2F%2Fi133.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fq52%2Floves2dance_photo%2Fbikinis.jpg&searchTerm=bikinis&pageOffset=13 Tell me if there are any ways to tone up the mid section or anything like that. Also what is your Hieght and Weight THanx Also when i sit down my fat rolls up more than it used to, it so gross and flabby you can jiggle it, yuck

  4. ...Are you serious? At a BMI of 20.9 you really don't need to worry. In fact, you are 14 years old. You really don't need to worry. The reason you have a "belly" now (you really don't) is because you are growing, maturing, and women naturally gain weight for the purpose of being a mother. What you SHOULD be worrying about is your future. I mean... you are 14... and you just posted a picture of yourself in a bikini on a public forum. Do you know what kinds of creepy people have access to the internet? What would your parents think?
  5. it's not huge, but yah it's noticeable. I'm 6 ft tall and 165-167lbs. Well there are 2 things you can do, either strengthen your abdomens, or burn the fat, 2 totally diff things; such a thing is noticeable in guys who tend to concentrate on weight lifting and stay away from cardio, they have strong abs, but you can't see them to well bcuz of the fat. if you wanna strengthen the abdomen do crunches and all those typical workouts. if you wanna remove the fat, running and rope jumping are good..
  6. YOUR NOT FAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GOD YOU JUST NEED TO TONE UP. YOU DONE HAVE ANY EXTRA WEIGHT YOU NEED TO LOSE YOU JUST NEED TO TONE YOUR TUMMY AND MAKE IT FIRM IF THAT WILL MAKE YOU FEEL MORE CONFIDENT ABOUT YOUR FIGURE.

  9. Nope, you aren't fat at all. I did some calculations, and this is what I found. 1. Compared to other girls your age, your BMI is higher than 2/3. This isn't a big deal at all, especially since you are probably in a growth year. It's worth watching every few months, but you shouldn't go on a big diet or anything. If you were 117 a year ago, your BMI was right in the middle - half of girls your age were higher, half lower. 2. You gained 12 pounds, and looking at the body fat (12 to 17), about 8 pounds of that was fat. 12% is low body fat for a woman, but 17% is healthy. So, in my opinion, this was probably a good thing. If you aren't an athlete, then this is perfectly normal. You're not going to have the body of a 13-year old girl forever. And you aren't going to fit in those jeans you wore as a 13-year old, either. You will grow out of your clothes, just like you did when you were younger. If you want to have a more toned body, the key is to exercise, not to starve yourself. If you haven't exercised before, then start slower, but work up to 30-45 minutes a day, 4-5 days a week, of hard exercise (enough so that you are huffing and puffing!) Walking/jogging/running, biking, or swimming are all good. This burns calories to help lose a little fat, but also builds muscle, which looks good, and burns calories 24-7, so you can pig out on ice cream once in a while without getting a pot belly. Usually the best way to firm up your midsection is just by burning off a little fat through exercise - a big diet weakens your muscles, you can lose fat, but your belly gets soft and sticks out. If you need an ab-workout, send me a message and I'll let you know. You used to eat whatever you wanted, but you should figure out how much you should really be eating. So keep a food diary. Just write down what you ate, how much, and how full you were afterwards (I use a scale from 0=still hungry to 5=so full it hurts!) You can also keep your measurements (height, weight, body fat, waist, belly, and hips) and track your exercise here, too. It's easy to skip a workout, or lose track of how many snacks or big meals you've eaten. But your body will respond to everything you do, either by getting toned and healthy, or by gaining extra fat. Writing everything down helps keep you focused on being healthy!
