i just tried an online body fat percentage calculator, how accurate do u think it is?
i'm 16, 138pounds and 5'2.5" it said my body fat is probably about 19.5% it basically asked me to type in my BMI and measure myself with a tape measure the circumference around the hips, calf, upper thigh and wrist. how accurate do u suppose it is? http://www.healthcentral.com/cholesterol/home-body-fat-test-2774-143.html - here is the link EDIT: wrong link, this is the right one:http://www.healthcentral.com/cholesterol/home-body-fat-test-2774-143.html

- It's very accurate. If you don't trust it, you can manually find out your body fat with that tool they have at doctor's offices, schools, and clinics.
- that one might be accurate but from my experience most arent. when i lost weight, and my stomach wasnt so big anymore, the calculator said i gained fat
- Why do you need to know your BMI? Try looking in the mirror in your underwear and you will see if you are overweight or not. Maybe you can ask a friend who you are sure will give you an honest answer without hurting your feelings. I find that the BMI can't take into account if you are an athlete, so you have not provided enough information about yourself for an accurate reading. I suppose it would be accurate if you are a couch potato and are not missing any limbs or have a five pound hairdo.
- If it's correct, that would mean you have 111lb of lean mass, (muscle and bone weight) which is quite a lot for someone your height and 19.5% body fat is pretty lean for a female. I do know that most online body fat calculators are not particularly accurate, but if you are super muscular it's possible. I know a girl that's about 5ft and over 130lb with under 20% body fat, but she is large framed and seriously into body building. I think it's best to purchase some body fat callipers and test your body fat that way. You can get the Accu-Measure ones off ebay and they are pretty cheap too.
