body fat scale reviews

Scale has two radically different fat percentages...which is correct?

Hi, everyone! I've tried a few of those electronic fat percentage scales and keep coming up with different results. I'm a 22 yr. old female, 140 lbs and 5'8. When I select "standard" body type it comes up 23% fat (35 lbs!)...but when I select "athletic" body type it shows 17% fat (23 lbs) - measured within seconds of each other. Which is correct? I know these aren't the most accurate, but one has to be closer than the other. What do these scales consider "athletic" builds to be? I work out at least an hour of cardio and 30 min of weights a day - but I have a hard time calling myself an athlete when there are so many triathletes out there!

  1. consumer scales that use bioelectrical impedance to measure body fat are highly inaccurate. get some hand calipers to measure your body fat below for $8 http://www.heartratemonitorsusa.com/Pages/CALIPERS/fitness-2000.html
