Good or bad or what?
I'm female, 28 years, 175cm tall, weigh 54.8kg with 22% body fat. What is my ideal weight and body fat percentage? ps - the body fat calc could be wrong as the scales are a little temperamental. ok 5'8 121 pounds i have a fine frame i'm only asking because everyone says i'm too thin cos my ribs and hips and that stick out (i have always been this way) and i want to know medically what i should be.

- That sounds about right to me, if you're happy with your appearance and don't have any health issues, what you worrying for?! Who cares!
- to be honest..when someone says...175cm tall and 54.8 kg etc etc.. I have absolutely no idea how tall or heavy that is. I'm still on Imperial weights and measures. I'm sure you're perfectly formed though.... I've got good instinct (I'm talking survival instincts.... never tell a woman she's short and fat).
- You cant just go by those calculations, you have to take into account your build, bone structure etc
- I think you're just fine, and if man can't see it this way, he need a visit to his optician.
- according to Body Mass Index calculations you're underweight. your BMI is 17.5 and everything under 18.4 is classed as underweight. To reach 18.5 (the lower end of your ideal weight) you'd neet to put on 3 kilos. http://www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk/magazine/interactive/bmi/index.aspx that's just one way of assessing weight though. go and talk to your GP if you're unsure. As long as you're happy and feel healthy and energetic I wouldn't worry too much. Just read up on which nutrients and minerals and stuff you need (as you're female you really need to look out for stuff like osteoporosis later in life). here's a chart about body fat percentage: http://www.weightlossforall.com/fat-percentage-ideal.htm but as you said, most household scales are unable to show the correct amount of body fat. Again, your GP or local fitness centre would be able to tell you your percentage more accurately.
- 175cm is actually 5'9". I'm 5' 8" and 2 kilos (4lbs) heavier. My body fat was measured at 19% but I don't know how accurate that was. I'm considered 'skinny' but not unhealthily so - my ribs do not show. At your height & weight in metric you have a bmi of under 18 which is marginally underweight - mine is 19. (I'm 42) To have a bmi of 20 which is pretty much ideal you would need to weigh 61kg or 134 pounds.
