  2. Good for you for keeping such careful track of your weight. You didn't say what age you are. You also didn't say what kind of athlete you are. But here are the usual minimum percentages for male athletes: Baseball - 12% Basketball - 6% Body building - 5% Cycling - 5% Football (backs) - 9% Football (linement) - 15% Gymnastics - 5% Hockey - 8% Raquetball - 8% Cross country skiing - 7% Sprinters - 8% Swimmers - 9% Triathlon - 5% Volleyball - 11% Wrestlers - 5% Just FYI, here is the table for male NON-athletes for lowest reasonable body fat percentage: Male non-athletes age up to 30 - 9%. Male non-athletes ages 30-50 - 11% Male non-athletes over 50 - 12%. As you probably already know (but it's good for me to repeat it anyway) you need a minimum amount of body fat because it is used: 1. So the body can function normally and healthily 2. So the body can protect internal organs in the chest and abdomen It's a VERY bad idea to get too a body fat percentage (as you already know...just repeating myself). Good luck with your health regime!
